The influence of foreign television on the mod culture
Ready, steady, go! Was one of the largest influences of the Mod culture. It was introduced to TV during August 1963 and given a prime time slot to delight thousands of Mods who could now gain access to the latest styles, music and dance moves. RSG was conceived by Elkan Allan, head of Rediffusion TV, snd produced by Vicki Wickham. Hosted by Keith Fordyce and Cathy McGowan, it was broadcasted from studio 9 in Kingsway, in Holborn, and went out nationally on ITV. It helped spread the fashion, latest styles and dance moves all around the world, increasing the number of Mods worldwide.
